no aarch64 native gem for linux?

I wanted to upgrade to tapoica 0.19, which depends on 0.10-beta11 of this gem. It installed fine on my arm based macbook, but when I pushed up to CI which uses linux arm based runners, it can't resolve the gem:

presumably because there is no published variant for aarch64/linux? Are there any plans to add that? any workaround in the mean time? I'm wondering why it's not falling back to pure ruby version?

Thank you for the report. We indeed don't have pre-compilation for aarch64 linux (because cibuildgem doesn't support it yet).

However, Bundler should have defaulted to just compiling the gem on your machine. Do you have the ruby platform in your lockfile? I suspect there's some platform constraint missing that's making Bundler ignore the version of the gem that's not pre-compiled.

yeah our lockfile was missing the ruby platform surprisingly. I added that in and was able to build the image locally, but in CI, it now requires rust to build the extension on our ARM runners and so I added rust 1.94.1 to our runner (which is plain ruby 4.0.2 image) and am getting this compilation issue:
