WAKATIME error in ZED Editor

I'm having this error with the Wakatime plugin in the ZED editor for macOS. Can anyone help me solve it?

I've already confirmed that's not the issue; I've updated both the ZED settings and the ~/.wakatime.cfg file.

The binary file needs to be downloaded from GitHub. If a GitHub token is provided, it will be used.

But I don't need to set my own token for this; it should be a token that grants access to the Wakatime repository, correct?
In this case, I shouldn't set the GITHUB_TOKEN variable in my system; the plugin or ZED should have an internal token to access it.

Zed needs a token because all extensions are downloaded from GitHub. If the token does not exist, some HTTP requests may be denied due to rate limiting. zed-industries/zed#9483

Thank you for your clarification @bestgopher, now it's clear why the GitHub token needs to be configured.

Following this, I made the correct configuration so that the ZED editor would recognize it, and the error changed, as shown below.

Language server wakatime:

from extension "wakatime" version 0.1.10: error fetching latest release

Caused by:

0: error sending request for url (https://api.github.com/repos/wakatime/wakatime-cli/releases)

1: client error (Connect)

2: operation timed out

But upon restarting the wakatime server, the original error reappeared:
